Rina Martinez has always been artistic. Born and raised in Manila Philippines, Rina moved at a young age to Denmark from there she relocated to Switzerland where she has now lived and worked for more than 30 years.
Rina’s inspiration for her art derives from her inner feelings, imagination, and intuition. All her paintings are developed directly on the canvas – she makes no sketches before the work. Rina’s art is a pure reflection of her inner world at that given moment when she stands in front of the canvas.
Rina’s work reflects the diverse influence of her multicultural background. But is also shaped by a distinctive and very personal style. As a native Filipina, the colorful compositions pay homage to her homeland. Her distinctive personal style emanates joy and peace and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of Asian culture.
She loves to compose, mix, and experiment using different mediums (oil, acrylic, ink, resin, alcohol, medium, wood, metal, cement) and uses techniques that create multiple perspectives and layers in a painting or sculpture.
Her works are on display in private collections in the US, Asia, and Central Europe and won several recognition from Art Limited.
When asked about her deepest motivations, Rina responded: "On one hand I do it to give expression to the creativity I feel inside of me. On the other, it's compensation for the stresses we all have. Painting calms me, and I feel at peace when I am in the creative flow; it is a feeling which can last for hours."
